Gumala Enterprises Pty Ltd (GEPL) is an Aboriginal community-owned company operating in a number of fields throughout Western Australia including civil contracting and engineering, tourism and the provision of services to the mining sector.
‘Gumala’ comes from the Banjima language and it can be translated into English as ‘coming together.’ The name was chosen because the 600-plus Gumala Aboriginal Corporation members who own Gumala Enterprises are drawn from the Banjima, Niapali and Innawonga language groups in the Pilbara region.
Our main focus is ensuring long-term, sustainable profits from the commercial activities of our businesses. Gumala is committed to the employment of local Aboriginal people, which is part of our commitment to returning profits from the land to the community.
